Press Release For Immediate Release RE: School Terrorism Exercise June 2006 The Grinnell Police Department in partnership with the following agencies and partners:
will be holding a joint regional School Terrorism Exercise from June 8 – June 10th, 2006. This exercise will include phases of preparedness education and planning that will evolve into a real time live drill exercise on Saturday June 10, 2006. This drill exercise project started last year with a tremendous amount of work between then and now, planning and preparing for this event. The primary funding for this exercise was provided through a School Violence Grant received by the Grinnell/Newburg Community School System and area Homeland Security Funds. The drill exercise design is framed to exercise and test Central Iowa’s ability to respond to a mass causality terrorist incident that will challenge our agency interoperability and our communication infrastructures. This concept involves documenting deficiencies and preparing an ongoing plan to improve any problem areas. The media is invited to attend on June 10, 2006 starting at 7:30 am. If anyone is interested in more information, please contact Jeffrey A. Hughes, Project Director at the above information.
