Subject:  Crime Prevention

Grinnell Police want to warn citizens about an increase in car burglaries that we are investigating recently.  With the weather becoming nice, there appears to be an increase in activities especially during the evening and overnight hours.  To prevent from becoming a victim of theft or burglary Police offer the following suggestions:

Ø  Lock all  exterior doors to your residences/businesses/garages

Ø  Make sure to lock all vehicle doors

Ø  Park your vehicle either inside of a garage or in a lighted area outside of your residence

Ø  Do not leave valuables such as IPODS, Digital Cameras, Laptops, cell-phone, money, jewelry, purses, wallets, or other valuables inside of your vehicle once you park it for the night or an extended period of time.

Ø  Most important:  If you notice a suspicious person in your neighborhood or suspicious activity in your neighborhood, contact Grinnell Police.  We will send someone to investigate as soon as possible.

If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact the Grinnell Police Department at 641-236-2650.
